On Wednesday 24th March, Theo Jones, VFX Supervisor at Framestore, gave a fascinating talk about the development of the Field Trip to Mars Project that he worked on as part of a team from Framestore.
This webinar was hosted by 4wardFutures in collaboration with the Next Gen Skills Academy.
This ground-breaking project saw the Framestore team create an immersive virtual experience within a classic American school bus. When the young people and their families entered the bus to start what they thought was a going to be a normal bus trip across Washington DC to a science fair, they had no idea that they were in fact going on a virtual tour of Mars.
In the webinar, Theo talked students through the whole process, from first concept, to overcoming the challenges of creating bespoke new tech, through to the delivery of a fully immersive VR Experience built in Unreal Engine.
