4wardFutures’ Vision for Careers Education

Our Vision:

The disruption of the current Careers Education approaches through the medium of highly engaging digital themed collaborative projects.

Our Mission:

To empower young people to see what they CAN DO and what they CAN BE in their career journeys in the digital age.

Our Strategic Pillars

Disrupt

We aim to disrupt and challenge current Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) that does not consider the changing nature of many industrial sectors and how the associated future career opportunities for young people are being affected by these rapid developments.

Enrich

We aim to enrich CEIAG, schools’ curriculum and post-16 training provision through collaborations with employers, individuals, universities and professional institutions.  Positive learning outcomes are realised through a range of innovative and engaging activities that explore the impact digital technology is having on future career opportunities.  These outcomes support the young person’s awareness of transferable skills and how they can be applied across an infinite number of career possibilities.

Empower

We have used the phrase empower to take into account the fact that no matter how up to date any form of CEIAG provision, educational or training provision is at the time it is provided, it will be of limited value if it does not result in the young person being empowered to independently explore and plan for a future in a world and workplace that is rapidly evolving.

Tactics to Achieve our Objectives:

  1.     Develop Collaborative Partnerships working with employers, organisations, university faculties and individuals who are working in or with the digital and Industry 4.0 sectors to establish mutually beneficial collaborative partnerships

 2.     Carry out and Review Research to:

a.    Explore the impact digital technology is having on career opportunities for young people across a wide range of current and evolving industrial sectors

b.    Identify the qualities and skills employers feel young people will need if they are to successfully navigate their way in the future workplace

c.    Identify gaps in careers education provision

d.    Highlight the different forms of employment a young person may enter and the evolving processes of recruitment across the sectors, such as posting examples of work to online forums and networking - both face-to-face and through online platforms such as LinkedIn

 3.     Team-Based Projects, Challenges and Workshops – develop and deliver cross-sector workshops and team-based projects/challenges to address gaps in current career education and personal development provision

 4.     Develop and Collate Online Resources and Links – develop original online resources and collate existing open-source online resources through which young people, teachers and parents can explore the changing nature of career opportunities

 5.     Collaborate – collaborate with other careers education, STEM and personal development organisations where possible, so as not to replicate available high-quality provision

 6.     Support and Enrich CEIAG Provision – support and enrich the Careers Education Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) work of schools, colleges and other CEIAG organisations

 7.     Add Value – develop a comprehensive evaluation, feedback and reporting toolkit. To help us to continually improve our delivery and report back on the social impact of our work carried out with young people and employers
