3D Futures

3D Futures - The 3D Futures Challenge is a virtual work experience programme. The 3D Futures challenge will involve young people working from design briefs written by 4wardFutures and professionals from industry to develop 3D, VFX, VR/AR, mixed media or game-based resources that 4wardFutures can use in the development of a range of their projects.

There will be two design challenges:

The 3D Space Design Challenge will set young people who are following game design, VFX or animation courses the challenge of working in teams to research and design virtual or augmented reality, game, VFX, mixed media or animated resources that could be used by 4wardFutures to enhance one of their related projects. Students will work from design briefs that will be developed by 4wardFutures partners from the space and media industry. A design brief could, for example, set the challenge of creating:

 ·        A mixed media animation that Illustrates the launch, deployment and operation of an earth observation satellite.

·         A mixed media video that introduces one of the 4wardFutures projects.

The Constructing a Life on Mars (CALOM) Space Architecture Design Challenge will set students the challenge of researching and designing a 3D model of a settlement or building that could be constructed on Mars. Through this challenge, the students will be introduced to the work of the increasing number of architects and engineering companies that are researching and designing both construction systems and settlement designs that could be used to create settlements on both the moon and Mars.
