Space Technology Applications on Earth (STAOE)

The Space Technology Applications on Earth (STAOE) project is a careers education programme that has been developed by 4wardfutures in collaboration with industry partners. The STAOE programme will give young people the opportunity to work individually or as part of a team to explore the applications on earth of technology that has been developed for use by the space industry. STAOE will also give young people the opportunity to explore how this technology is having an increasingly significant impact on their lives, future career opportunities and local, national, and international environment.

Space technology is technology developed by space science or the aerospace industry for use in spaceflight, satellites, or space exploration. Space technology includes spacecraft, robotics, satellites, and space stations. Many common everyday services such as weather forecasting, earth observation and monitoring, remote sensing, GPS systems, satellite television, long-distance communications systems critically rely on space technology and infrastructure.
